The job description for Apostolic Overseer is based on the functional ministry of apostles in the church as seen in the New Testament. He is uniquely qualified by virtue of his spiritual gifting, character, reputation, history of service to the church, role in the Senior Pastor’s life and development, and international relationships.

General duties of the Apostolic Overseer:

1. To serve as a pastor, mentor and spiritual father to the Senior Pastor, watching over him and consulting him in his spiritual life, family life, ministry life and personal growth. (The pastoral epistles of Paul to the churches, especially 1 and 2 Timothy).
2. To consult the Senior Pastor in the development, general oversight and protection of the church’s vision, operation and spiritual calling.
3. To preach and teach in the church as the Senior Pastor requests.
4. To encourage, counsel and support key leaders in the church as the Senior Pastor requests (Romans 15-16).
5. To pray regularly for the church’s welfare and spiritual development (Ephesians 1:15-19 and 3:14-21).
6. To serve as an apostolic liaison to national and international ministry relationships, including missionaries, pastors, heads of networks and other Christian leaders with whom the church may desire to be engaged (Romans 1, 2 Corinthians 5:20).
7. To advise the Senior Pastor in church planting (Book of Acts), sound doctrine and practice (Galatians 4, 5 and 1 Corinthians 7), church discipline (1 Corinthians 1:11).
8. To exercise the spiritual gifts of leadership, prophecy and apostleship as the Lord may prompt him (1 and 2 Corinthians).
9. To provide, at the Senior Pastor’s request, additional guidance and expertise to the church in major decisions such as property sale or acquisition, fiscal policy, moral issues, employment issues and any controversies which may impact the church.
10. To serve the church in the constitutional process of examining and disciplining the Senior Pastor in the event that he is accused of doctrinal, moral or mental unsoundness.
11. To serve the church in the constitutional process of replacing the Senior Pastor in the event of his death or disqualification.
